The new BMW 3 Series Saloon and Touring body styles come with a refined interior, specific design modifications, BMW Connected Drive’s new services, the new generation BMW iDrive system, and innovations in drive technology, safety, and comfort.
The 2010 BMW 3 Series is equipped with a standard rear-wheel drive, harmonious axle load distribution, distinctive bodywork technology and Efficient Dynamics which lowers fuel consumption and exhaust emission levels with all its 10 engine options. The xDrive four-wheel drive system is available as an option in combination with select engines.
The new BMW 320d xDrive is offered in both Saloon and Touring forms. The BMW 318d (with diesel engine) which is the most efficient vehicle in its category, with an average fuel consumption of only 4.7 liters (gallons) per 100 kilometers (62.14 miles), is now available with an optional 6-speed automatic transmission.
The powertrain features new techniques such as the optimized electronically controlled all-wheel drive system called BMW xDrive. This AWD system variably distributes the drive force between front and rear wheels to improve ride stability and driving dynamics.
The BMW 3 Series Coupe and Convertible get a 7-speed automatic transmission with double clutch that shifts without interrupting traction. This enhances acceleration figures in the BMW 335i Coupé and BMW 335i Convertible. Traction Control can now be combined with five engine variants.
The BMW 3 Series boasts a more flowing design, enlarged storage areas and a revised rear suspension for better handling and ride. Safety system of the new BMW 3 Series has improved from its predecessors with the addition of crash-activated dynamic head restraints as standard features.
