According to recent studies about 40 million Americans don't have any type of health insurance and those who do have health insurance seem to not be satisfied about the ever-increasing cost of premiums related to their policies. While it is true that health insurance is not free it can't be very cheap if you do a little bit of research.

If you are unemployed individual you are very likely to get group health insurance coverage through your employer, this being the case, your employer covers a good portion of the fees related to the insurance policy that is being made available to employees, in other words the employee is not paying the full costs of insurance policy. This is a type of arrangement that is of great help to the beneficiary because the more a fraction of the price health coverage can be secured.

If you are self employed or if your employer doesn't offer group health insurance you can still get coverage if you decide to do some homework. Individual health insurance plans are available for those who own their own business, are self-employed or those who want to add extra coverage to their existing plan.

While it is true that health insurance can be a financial burden this could get even worse for those individuals who are caught in a bad situation where they need medical assistance and they don't have any type of insurance. If the costs of drugs and medical treatment seem high to those people who have medical insurance then the costs of getting medical attention without health insurance are certainly jaw-dropping.

It is estimated that the average maternity costs range from $5000-$20000 depending on the state that you live in at the hospital that you choose to use, these costs can increase dramatically for patients who are not covered by any type of medical insurance.

Unexpected situations cannot be predicted but when they do happen it is always good to know that you are covered by some sort of insurance plan which will provide you a partial relief from knowing that after you recover you will not be greeted by a pile of medical bills that apparently have no end.
