Massachusetts is one of the most interesting states to visit in the United States, with great area attractions like Cape Cod, Boston, and historical Plymouth Plantation there are endless possibilities of things to do. The only problem theses days are the threat of traveling burning a hole in your pocket. Many people are beginning to create budgets for their family vacations in order to keep their spending in order as a result of this, if you are planning on traveling to Massachusetts here are some great ideas of places you can visit and things you can do without spending a ton of money.

The city of Boston has a ton of stuff to do. One of the oldest and most historical things to do in Boston is to walk the Freedom Trail. The Freedom Trail is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Boston, the great part about it is, not only is it great exercise it is something that everyone can participate in within their budgets, because it is free! The 2.5 mile walk brings visitors though many of the historical sites in Boson such as the old burying grounds, meeting houses, and churches. Maps are given at the beginning of the trail so walkers can go at their own pace as they explore historical Boston. Also about forty-five minutes away from The Freedom Trail is Plimouth Plantation. Plimouth plantation is a real life replication of the pilgrim’s world in the 17th century. For less than $30 per person you can interact with pilgrims as you watch them go through daily tasks.

If you aren’t into the historical aspect of Boston why not head down to Cape Cod for a day to explore the beaches and the thousands of tiny shops that line the area. Many of the beaches down there only cost $3 for parking a day. You can park and spend the morning exploring the beaches and playing in the ocean then spend the afternoon walking around enjoying the shops and restaurants that are located a stones throw from the ocean.

Another fun thing you can do while visiting the city that will help keep everyone within their budgets is to go on a famous duck tour. Duck tours start when 20 people board an amphibious car in the heart of Boston, during the 80 minute trip you will give you a short tour of the city before the car heads straight into the Charles River to continue the exploration of the city from the water. The view from the water is gorgeous and it is fun for people of all ages. The great part about the tour is that it can cost as little as $5 dollars per person. If you are going to be around this area during the summer months you might as well go hear a concert given along Esplanade. There are dozens of concerts preformed every summer between June and September by famous artists that you can attend for free. Most of these concerts are given in the Hatch Shell. The Hatch Shell is a half moon shaped stage, which is located along the Esplanade, which is a 2 mile stretch along the Back Bay of Boston.
