Work can sometimes be very tedious and stressful, especially in the corporate world. This is why many employers decide to "reward" their workers every now and then. What they do is give incentive gifts. These are simple tokens given to employees, as a gesture of appreciation. They are often given when an employee has done an excellent job in the workplace. Incentive gifts can be given either to just one person or a whole team, when they meet business goals appropriately. Sometimes, incentive gifts are also given for everyone, especially if the company is under a congratulatory mood. For example, successful projects, such as exceeding quotas, extending contracts and winning bid or new accounts, are celebrated. When people from top management celebrate their birthdays, gifts are also given out.

Important and festive holidays and occasions also involve incentive gifts. You'll see these items during company anniversaries, Thanksgiving or Christmas. Loot bags or gift certificates are often given as incentive gifts.

The costs of incentive gifts are not deducted from employees. The funding of these is integrated in the costs of the company for its projection for a specific year. Sometimes, companies that are partnered with other companies use these partnerships to improve incentive gifts as partner companies and corporate clients sometimes shoulder incentive gifts as a sign of support and goodwill and as a way of advertising themselves as well.

There are also some businesses that specialize in providing and creating incentive gifts. They are very helpful for companies who require a large selection of gifts to choose from. If they want their company's logo and name on the gift, these business would also take care of it.

One important consideration when giving an incentive gift is to make sure it fits the need and personality of both the giver (company) and the receiver (employee or team). Factors to be considered include gender, preferences and personality. For example, a vegan employee wouldn't be too happy if he or she receives an all-you-can eat certificate to a meat restaurant. A beauty shop gift certificate is a good incentive gift, but if it's for a male employee, it would be laughable. The wrong incentive gift might become insulting rather than congratulatory.
