The latest buzz that has everyone bothered these days is high cholesterol levels. You only need to worry about getting a high cholesterol level if you have a family member who has had it, are slightly overweight, and eat mostly fast foods. If this is the case, you should consider going on a diet to lower cholesterol which is the key to reducing cholesterol.
There is an easier way to keep your cholesterol levels low besides taking drugs that are geared towards reducing cholesterol. The easiest way to stay off cholesterol medication is to not smoke, drink alcohol in moderation, and make sure your get plenty of exercise. If you have any high risk factors for getting high cholesterol levels, like a parent or grandparent who already has it, then you should start implementing these easy tasks into your life right now.
Making sure that your cholesterol levels remain low is very important to your health in the long run because it can help prevent any heart problems that may arise. Along with the three methods mentioned above, there are other steps you can take right now that will also help reduce cholesterol in your body to normal levels.
One way of reducing cholesterol levels, is to start your mornings off with a heart healthy breakfast. A simple way to do that is to eat a bowl of oatmeal that has at least 10 grams of fiber. Fiber helps lower your cholesterol and is one of the best ways to start your day.
If you don't really like oatmeal or need a variety in your morning meals, you can also find some cold cereal that has the fiber you need. You can also add some produce to your meals to spice up the taste like bananas and apples. Kellogg's Special K Red Berries cereal is one of my favorite breakfast meals.
Another technique that you can use to lower your cholesterol is to stop using the plain oils you use for cooking and start using olive oil. This oil is the best vegetable oil on the market and is a healthier option that will improve your well-being. If you want to help get rid of the bad cholesterol while maintaining a normal level of good cholesterol, then you should try to have two tablespoons of virgin olive oil in your daily diet to lower cholesterol.
A further change you can make is to start eating some walnuts each day. Studies have shown that if you eat some walnuts daily, within four weeks you can greatly lower your cholesterol levels. Walnuts also help keep your blood vessels healthy which in turn keeps the rest of you healthy.
Reducing cholesterol levels is something everyone should strive for, especially if they have a high cholesterol level or have family member that do. If you make a few simple changes in your diet to lower cholesterol, you will be able to lower your cholesterol significantly enough to keep your body healthy. All is takes is making sure you eat a fiber filled breakfast, exchanging your regular oil for olive oil, and munching on some walnuts daily.
