Despite the size of World of Warcraft, it is possible to get around by many forms of transport, from a character's two feet, to a pair of wings. However, knowing the best way to do this, will save a great deal of both time and money, especially when charting new areas on the World of Warcraft map.

Foot travel is the safest method of getting around, when using main roads. These have signs at intersections, pointing the player in the right direction. Until level 15 to20 is reached, this method of transport is fine, as almost any location necessary can be reached, without the aid of a World of Warcraft map. Whilst traveling around town, even though these are enormous, any guard will be able to give players directions. They will even place a flag on the World of Warcraft mini-map in order to point them in the right direction.

Once above level 20, a World of Warcraft map is essential, as the player will have to travel much further afield to complete his tasks. Now however, there is a much more sophisticated World of Warcraft expansion map available.

Using Google's Maps API, this World of Warcraft map, behaves exactly like a Google map. One is able to zoom in and out, scroll and view different areas and select resources and labels. with over 20,000 data points, covering 94 resources and their exact map locations, including herbs and ores. It is possible to display treasure, flight paths, zone and city names too, this is a vast improvement on the original World of Warcraft map. There is also the ability to link to popular locations in the game, with one's friend, by just clicking and copying the location.

This fantastic World of Warcraft map can be found at Map WoW, and they are promising a number of new features in the future. They also ask for suggestions and comments, from visitors to their site.

Once a player has reached level 40, he is able to purchase a land mount, which will enable him to cover distances much faster, each race having its own native mount. At this stage in the game, a decent World of Warcraft map is essential to success. By the time he reaches level 60, he will be able to buy a flying mount, which will travel even faster, and who knows what would happen then, without a World of Warcraft map.
