Living in California can be tough being that image is so important there. If you live in Los Angeles, that can be even more severe. One thing you may be considering is either liposuction, or a tummy tuck. But...What is the difference?

A tummy liposuction procedure is not a tummy tuck. Liposuction is the removal of the fat between the skin layer and the muscles. For some, this kind of procedure is used to improve an already solid abdomen physique.

A tummy tuck, on the other hand, is a major medical procedure. This is a medical procedure in which a surgeon will put the person getting it under general anesthesia. Tummy tucks are more involved and as a medical procedure, more serious. When you get a tummy tuck, not only is the fat removed, but an incision is made and the skin and muscle tissue is tightened. Many times, a tummy tuck is also involved with a person that may have lost a significant amount of fat and has a lot of loose skin. The tummy tuck can remove a lot of that skin that has been created in large part by the stretching over time.

Because of the nature of the tummy tuck, it is more invasive, and as such, more risky than liposuction. Unless you have a serious reason, often times a medical professional will opt for liposuction over a tummy tuck. Consult your physician before undergoing any procedure.

Either way, you must understand that you incur risk with either procedure. These associated risks should be talked about with your physician prior to any surgery. Hemotoma, asymmetry, lumpiness as well as numbness are all possible effects that you may experience with either procedure. Do not forget fact that this is actual medical surgery. Other risks you need to be aware of are, complications from anesthesia, and complications due to healing.

It is important to discuss the options and plans for long term care and lifestyle change. With a procedure like this, you need to understand that you did something over time to get in the condition you are in, and you need to understand that with out changing the way you currently live, you are bound to end up back where you started. Commit to change and make the procedure worth it.

This is generally the difference between the two. Consult your physician for more information, and whether either procedure will be the right one for you. With the right procedure, you can experience better self esteem, greater satisfaction, and well being. It is important to discuss lifestyle changed in conjunction with your procedure.
