The fact that unplanned pregnancies occur every day can particularly sting when you have been trying to get pregnant for months--and failed.
Repeated, unsuccessful attempts to conceive can quickly spiral into anxiety, stress, and low self-esteem. And since stress can have a number of detrimental effects on your body, the stressing out you're doing about having a baby ends up becoming yet another obstacle to conceiving.
The first thing to help get things underway is to create your own little ovulation calendar. The goal here is to get organized. This can actually help you on multiple fronts and let me explain why.
Having a child should be a joyous and rewarding experience. Don't let prior setbacks get in the way of that. Children are about the future, not the past. So is conceiving a child.
Of course pregnancy is a natural part of the cycle of life. But just because you've been having difficulty doesn't mean there's something wrong with you or you should allow that to stress you out completely. The fact of the matter is even Mother Nature can use a bit help every now and then.
Start by making an ovulation calendar and keeping close track of when you ovulate, when you attempted to conceive, the length of your periods, your moods, the food you eat, etc. Not only can this help you know when the best time to conceive is, but it can be a valuable asset for your physician as well. The more information a doctor has, the more they will be able to help you by pinpointing possible problems or giving you helpful information.
Secondly, let go a little. Stop beating up on yourself. Remember, the best things in life more often than not happen when you least expect them to. Laugh and smile. Think of something other than getting pregnant for a while. Avoid stress and, most importantly, use the attempt to conceive to recapture or rekindle the spicy part of your sex life. After all, orgasms have been proven to aid in sperm reaching the egg, so there's no reason why getting pregnant can't be fun.
