When it is time for a baby to come into the world, chances are the mother is going to let you know. No matter how beautiful the birthing experience can be, it can also be some of the most lengthy and horrible pain that a woman will ever go through. There are several methods of childbirth these days, but they all involve, at the very least, those first throes of labor when the contractions begin to come at regular intervals. Although sometimes women are put in the hospital early and babies are taken by cesarean section if there is a good or certain possibility of a problem, childbirth is best when it happens the old fashioned way.

Old fashioned does not necessarily mean that you can not have an epidural or something else for the pain, but that the baby comes out where it was intended to. Some women want absolutely nothing for the pain because they want to make sure they are completely alert when their child is born. Completely natural childbirths are usually always very painful and women do research ways to alleviate as much of that pain as possible, but in a natural way.

Expectant mothers often take breathing classes prior to delivery because when you breathe the right way it can help with the process if not really the pain. Some women choose to give birth lying down and others choose the squatting method. The latest thing in natural delivery is water birthing. It is said by some to be good for the mother and the baby.

A small shallow pool is used for natural water births. Of course, there does need to be a doctor or licensed midwife present for every child birth. Water birthing is said to be a very safe way to deliver a baby when everything goes as is expected. Water birthing is supposed to help with the pain as water can sometimes do and it is also supposed to make coming into the world less shocking for the baby. It seems to make the transition from the womb to the outside world a little less traumatic when they are delivered into a pool of water as it is what they have been accustomed to.

It is not always how a child comes into the world that is important, but that the delivery setting is safe and prepared for any and all emergencies. You must always anticipate the worst while looking forward to the best. Childbirth, even well planned and practiced ones can go awry with no warning sometimes and it is always better to be safe than sorry no matter what your principles and personal wishes are.
