Janice lives in fear. For the past week her house alarm has being going off and she doesnot know why. She lives in a decent neighborhood where every one knows and likes her. Her home is normally pretty secure.

Lately the house alarm has been going off at the same time each day. She had the system checked and the experts say that it is functioning fine. The system has an extremely sensitive motion detector, but it has never been a problem until now.

She is terrified that someone has found a way into her house. She is even considering buying a firearm. She has never been particularly fond of having a gun in the house, but she may make an exception. She would like to solve this mystery, so she can get a decent night sleep. She has been staying wake and her work is starting to suffer.

She has considered all possibilities for the alarm activations. She has still not solved the mystery. She decided that she had better take off from work and get to the bottom this. She called the alarm company and got the approximate time when the alarm was activated. She wanted to make sure she was home at that time. She was afraid, but she knew she had to do it.

Desperate for answers, she decided she would hide in a closet and see if the alarm would go off. Like clockwork the alarm went off. She dialed the police. They were already on the way to her house. They told her to stay on the line until they got to the house. When they arrived they told her they were coming through the front door which she had intentionally left open.

When they got in the house, they told her to come out. They told her there was nobody in the house. Janice thought, there has to be something. As the police were leaving they heard a scratching sound coming from the kitchen.

They told Janice to get on the floor for protection. They drew their weapons and headed for the kitchen. Near the cabinet area, they saw a squirrel trying to climb a wall. They knew they had found the intruder.

It was the squirrel. He was setting the motion detector off when it came in to hunt for food. It had come into the house through the attic and found its way through the living area.

Out of habit, the squirrel came for food about the same time everyday. The police called animal control to trap the squirrel. Janice had the house inspect by pest controllers. They found the entry point used by the squirrel. The alarm stopped going off and Janice returned to her normal routine.

Your home can be invaded by all sorts of creatures. Some of them may be large enough to activate an alarm system. You do not always know what is going on when you are away. You need to secure uour home at all times. You must devise a plan to detect and report all uninvited guests.
