When you have flood insurance for your home and suddenly find the situation has actually occurred, using it is the absolute best way to go. In any case, you probably do not have much choice except to file a claim on it when your house has been flooded because of a natural disaster. Just be glad you had the foresight to pay those monthly flood insurance premiums and are not like so many others who thought they would likely never need to be covered for flooding.

In some cases your insurance company might prefer to choose a water damage company to come in and inspect your home and do the necessary repairs after the flood water has receded. In other cases, an insurance company might allow you to choose who will come in and do the work. This might be a bigger task than you know because there are a lot of companies out there who claim to be the best in their field and when it is up to your who to allow into your home, you want to be positive you will be getting the best professional water damage crew available.

Here are the most important questions you will want answered before you actually hire a water damage company:

1.Are they licensed and insured themselves?
2.How long have they been in business?
3.Do they have references you can check out your self of past clients?
4.Do they have the latest and best equipment available?
5.Have their employees had professional training to use this equipment and are background checks done on their employees?
6.How long will the job take and how much will it cost?
7.Is their work guaranteed in writing?
8.What are all the services they offer and do they include mold remediation?
9.Will they bill your insurance company directly?

These are just some of the most important questions you need answers to, but there might even be more you want them to answer before you allow them into home to work. You will want to be there during a lot of the work process to make sure things are going to your satisfaction and if the company is not meeting your expectations do not be afraid to let them know. You will not want to get in the way of their progress, but they need to know that you are the home owner and you expect certain standards to meet. If they are as god as they say they are at their job, you should not have any problems at all.
