Truck tool boxes are very useful to use to transport your tools to and from work. These are also very useful if you plan on carrying fishing or sporting equipment. If you have a pickup truck then you will notice that you do not have very much inside the cab for a toolbox. A truck tool box can be used to maximize the space you have available. There are different styles depending on the type of truck you have.

Tool boxes can be mounted in the bed just behind the cab, these are known as top mount tool boxes. These commonly have single or double lids and are split into different compartments for storing different items. The type of box that you choose will depend on what you intend to store in the box. If you want to store small items then you will want a toolbox which has lots of smaller compartments.

Boxes can also be mounted onto the side rail of the bed. This means that most of the box sits inside the bed. These are available in a number of different sizes which makes them suitable for almost every truck. These boxes open at the top, you should try and choose one which has a lock to prevent things getting stolen.

The most popular type of tool box for pickup trucks are crossover boxes. These are installed just behind the cab and are made out of a number of different materials. These can be fixed down to the bed by bolting them down so that they cannot be stolen.

Materials for Tool Boxes

The least expensive form of tool box is the plastic type of toolbox. These are not as durable as the other popular materials but they are very cheap. These provide a great box for basic use and if you?re on a budget. Plastic is good for home use, however it probably won?t be able to cope with professional use.

Another common material is aluminum. This is very light and much more durable than plastic. It is more expensive than plastic however it should almost certainly last longer. They are also easier to clean and come in silver color or black.

The strongest and most durable material is steel. These are fantastic and can be used for constant heavy duty use. These are the most expensive form of boxes but are the most durable. You should restrict your choices to boxes with a powder coated finish. These will protect the box from the elements.

There are many different manufacturers of tool box. One very popular brand is Delta. These are liked by hobbyists and professionals alike. You can get these in a variety of different styles which are suitable for all sorts of things.

Delta champion is a series of products which offers a wide range of crossover tool boxes. These are available in a number of different sizes and styles which can fit any size of truck. These boxes have a rigid lid which is very secure. Leaking is not an issue with weatherproofing around the joints.

There is also a pro series of products which is made from aluminum and steel. Crossover use a double jaw latching system which prevents them getting stolen.
