A web site, to be able to have a lot of viewers, should be well-designed, informative and user-friendly. As as well as in a resume, it should have rich content of your work experiences and working skills, for you to be noticed.

Here are some similarities of a website to a resume:

In submissions:

When you're applying for a job, you're presenting your resume to an hr officer as if you're marketing yourself. A lot of interviews and exams you'll pass through before you get the job; but, if they don't like you, they will put you on the failed list that instant.

Just like a web site, it's a company's resume with the samples of their products, services and information needed. And if the visitor sees that they will not benefit to your site, he will give no response, no matter how good your proposals are or how many submissions you'll make.

In quality:

Web sites should be interesting enough to attract viewers, it should also have rich content. People tend to always come back if the web site's content is useful, informative or just plain entertaining.

In quantity:

It is more important that a website has numerous back links. It is known that high back links equivalents to high page rank. Same as if you pass your resume to a big number of companies, then that applicant has more chances to receive responses.

With these comparisons, I can really say that a web site is the same as resume in so many aspects. So, in creating or maintaining a website, always think like you are writing a resume.

Working with your resume is same as building your web site: the richer the content and designs, the better. The more informative it is, the bigger chance you'll get to be noticed.
