When you have a website that you want people to visit, where you are placed in the search engine makes a huge difference. When you submit your URL to a free search engine you do not have a guarantee that your website will even be placed with them, much less where the link to your website is going to be placed. There lays the problem, how do you improve search engine placement?

There are several things one can do to improve the search engine placement of their link. Obviously you need to have an extensive key word and phrase selection. This will give people searching a better chance of typing in one of your key words and bringing them to your website. Key words are probably one of the most important ways to improve your placement because when you have more keywords than your competitor your link will come up before his. So be very specific about your keywords and make them according to your targeted audience so as to improve your placement.

You also need to make sure that your headings and tags are correct. Your title will tell people what they are looking at and the meta tag basically tells the search engine browser what it is looking at. With that thought, it would seem very important to make sure that your head titles and meta tags are formatted properly.

The quality of your site plays a big role in where you are placed. You want to build a very informative, keyword rich site, all the while staying focused on your the thing you built your site for. Study the sites that are ranked first in a search engine to see what you may need to do to improve your sites placement. Pay attention to where you put your key words and most of all be an original.

There are a lot of other things you can do to improve your search engine placement, but it is very tedious and sometimes just plain stressful. The other option available to improving your placement is either by hiring a search engine placement specialist to do it for you or buying the software that will make improving your search engine placement a heck of a lot easier. Whatever your site is just for fun or is to advertise for a business, through the help of the many websites available on the topic, you can improve your search engine placement.
