One of the first things that you should do if you are thinking about launching an internet marketing company is research. Researching the field you are going into is the most crucial part of building a successful business. Developing a successful and profitable internet marketing company can be difficult, but if you take the necessary steps it is definitely something that you can do.

The thing that will be your best friend in building an internet marketing company is a search engine, which is why it is so important to understand the different parts of it. There are many different ways to organize content on the web, but every search engine has the same basic parts: a crawler, and index, and a search interface. A crawler or a spider is exactly what its name implies; it scours the web by following links, updating pages, and even adding new pages when it sees them or comes across them.

You will learn that every search engine has certain periods for deep crawling and other periods for shallow crawling. Each engine has an internal mechanism that works like a scheduler by preventing a spider from overloading servers and it tells them which documents to crawl next and how often to do it. You can compare this to an assistant or a daily planner because ultimately, it has the same basic functions; it tells you what to do and when to do it.

Any documents that change quickly or ones that are very important are the ones that are most likely to get crawled very often. How often something is crawled does not have too much to do with the search relevancy, but it does help to keep only fresh content in the index of search engines.

The index of s search engine is where all the data is stored that the spider collects. For instance, when you type in something and click search in the engine, you are not actually searching the web, but rather the cache of the web that is provided by the index of that particular search engine. Almost all search engines organize their content is something that is called a reverse index. The job of the reverse index is to sort all of the documents by words. So, this means that when you search something on Yahoo or Google and it returns 154,000 results, that means that is the approximate number of pages on the web that contain the words you searched for or have inbound links containing the words.

This is just a brief introduction into the parts of the search engine, but it is definitely a step in the right direction in preparation for building a successful internet marketing company.
